We have just finished one of the most beautiful and fun Septembers ever. What a great time to visit this town. If you never have had the chance to see Aspen in the fall, try and fit it into your schedule next September. For the most part, the weather is great with lots of sunshine. The leaves start changing by the middle of the month or before and the beautiful colors last into early October. Between Aspen and Snowmass there are scheduled events every weekend but sometimes the most memorable activities are hiking nearby trails or just taking a long walk.

But we all know that winter is still ahead, so after all the color is left in the mountains we start “thinking snow.” And for our guests, they need to start thinking vacation time at Chateau Blanc. Thanksgiving time is not that far away and that weekend marks the opening of Snowmass and Aspen Mountain. Buttermilk and Aspen Highlands will be open on December 10. Over the summer, Snowmass has eliminated the Fanny Hill lift and is currently replacing it with a high speed six person lift that ends up at Sam’s Knob with an unloading area partway up. Aspen Highlands has added a new lift in the Steeplechase area for those who love to spend time on those runs without having to take the catwalk out every time.

Women’s World Cup races will be returning to Aspen Mountain December 9-11. Winter X Games are returning to Buttermilk Jan. 27-31. The HBO Comedy Fest will be held March 8-12. Throughout the winter there will be Big Air Fridays at Snowmass, and the Hi Fi Concert Series. Spring Jam, sponsored by the Aspen Skiing Company, will be March 16-19. It really doesn’t matter when you come. Every day in Aspen is fabulous on most counts!
